Zusammenfassung:	A process treats diesel engine gases with an oxidation agent. In the first stage of the treatment the oxidation agent is held at the ready. In a second stage, the exhaust gas temperature is determined and the oxidation agent admixed in a composition which is determined by the exhaust gas temperature. An Independent claim is also included for a diesel engine exhaust system. Es wird ein Verfahren beziehungsweise eine Vorrichtung zur Nachbehandlung des Abgases einer Brennkraftmaschine, insbesondere einer Dieselbrennkraftmaschine, vorgeschlagen, mit einer Vorrichtung zur Bereitstellung von Mitteln zur Oxidation und einer Abgasnachbehandlungseinheit, wobei ein Temperaturfühler (40) vorgesehen ist zur Messung der Temperatur des Abgases vor dem Eintreten in die Abgasnachbehandlungseinheit (10) und wobei die Vorrichtung (20) zur Bereitstellung von Mitteln zur Oxidation eingerichtet ist zur Variation der chemischen Zusammensetzung der Mittel zur Oxidation in Abhängigkeit von der Temperatur. Diese Vorgehensweise bei der Abgasnachbehandlung gewährleistet eine energieeffiziente Aufbereitung des Abgases.
