The invention relates to a method for moulding the base of a glass container. According to the invention, said method comprises the following steps: the base is subjected, in a heated, malleable state to the moulding pressure of a die; a cushion of gas is introduced, prior to and/or during the pressure, between the moulding surface of the die and the base of the glass container.
