Powder lacquers and powder slurries contain effect pigment(s) with wide particle size distribution. Independent claims are also included for: (1) effect-giving multicoat lacquering with a combination effect coat, which can be produced by applying the powder slurry to an electrophoretic lacquer coat after thermal cure or wet-on-wet after no or partial cure, followed by physical or thermal cure and/or cure with actinic radiation; and (2) effect-giving multicoat lacquering with a base coat, which can be produced by applying a filler to an electrophoretic lacquer coat after thermal cure or wet-on-wet after no or partial cure, followed by thermal cure and/or cure with actinic radiation, applying a powder lacquer or powder slurry to the filler lacquer or antichip primer and airing or drying this without complete cure or subjecting it to physical or thermal cure and/or cure with actinic radiation, giving the base coat, applying clear coat(s) to the powder lacquer or powder slurry coat or the base coat, followed by thermal cure and/or cure with actinic radiation.
