The carrier system has a base support with two extendable or hinged rails(1,2) which run in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and lie adjacent to the two outer sides of the rear end(3) of the vehicle and are recessed. The rails may be installed on body parts adjoining the side edge of the boot lid and preferably on the rear wings. The rails may be vertically and horizontally extendable. The rails by pivot points(6,7) on their respective ends are mounted to pivot around an axis(18) located parallel to the longitudinal axis of the rails.
