The material can be subjected to the microwave and ultraviolet radiation simultaneously or successively and can be moved in or through the oven during exposure to the radiation. Independent claims are also included for the following: an arrangement for treating materials, e.g. for sterilizing bottle corks and textiles. Es wird ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung (10) zum Behandeln (Entkeimen, Sterilisieren, Trocknen) eines Behandlungsguts wie Flaschenkorken, Granulate, Textilien-, Lebensmittel-, Verpackungs-, Abfall- oder Müllmaterial o. dgl. beschrieben, wobei das Behandlungsgut in einem Ofen (12) mit einer Mikrowellen-Strahlung (20) und außerdem mit einer UV-Strahlung (28) beaufschlagt wird.
