Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a fluidised-bed reactor for producing activated carbon, in particular powdered carbon of high adsorption capacity, from recent or fossil carbon carriers, for example from wood chips fresh from the forest or from lignite. Starting from a fluidised-bed reactor having an approximately vertical pipe for feeding the material, the pipe is designed in the form of a shaft reactor and, for this purpose, at least one gas feed or/and gas discharge are connected to the pipe. In this shaft reactor/fluidised-bed reactor combination, it is possible to narrow the wide residence time spectrum typical of single-stage fluidised-bed reactors.
