Zusammenfassung:	Novel compounds are provided which exhibit activity as herbicides for combating weeds. The novel compounds have the formula: wherein X is hydrogen, halo, trihalomethyl, akyl, cyano or nitro; X is hydrogen, halo or trihalomethyl; X is halo; Y is O, NH, NR or S; R and R are the same or different and are selected from hydrogen, (C1-C4)alkyl, phenyl and phenyl(C1-C4)alkyl; n is an integer of from 1 to 5; and Z is carboxy, amino, monoalkylamino, or dialkylamino. Also provided are agronomically acceptable salts, esters and amides of a compound of Formula I when Z is carboxy, with the proviso that, when the 3 min -substituent is alkoxycarbonylmethoxycarbonyl, said alkoxy group is C1, C3 or C4.
