A method and apparatus for assisting in the generation and removal of windows at a plurality of remote terminal display screens

The method involves using a computer system having a host processor executing applications programs, and interconnected through a number of communications controllers each connected to a number of non-programmable and programmable terminals. The processing steps required for windowing may be distributed between the host processor and the controllers. The host processor generates and sends to the controllers (USC) a data stream defining the window parameters. Each controller is adapted to construct and display the window on the display screen(s) which it controls.
