Zusammenfassung:	Described is an evaporator for a compressor-type refrigeration unit, the wall of the evaporator comprising an inner and outer metal sheet (5 and 6) enclosing a meander-shaped refrigerant duct (8). The evaporator is particularly protected against refrigerant leaks by an additionaly inner-wall sheet (7) and optionally an additional outer-wall sheet (15). All the elements of the evaporator wall, i.e. the inner wall sheet (7), the inner metal sheet (5), the outer metal sheet (6) and the optional outer wall sheet (15), are welded or soldered to each other.
