PROCESS FOR PREPARING AZODYES

1348505 Reactive monoazo dyes CIBAGEIGY AG 19 April 1971 [26 Feb 1970] 22695/71 Heading C4P New reactive monoazo dyes of formula wherein U is a halogen atom, R 1 is an ortho- SO 3 H-substituted phenyl or #-naphthyl radical, one Y is H and the other SO 3 H, R 2 is a phenylene radical carrying a COOH or preferably one or two SO 3 H groups and Z is a fibre-reactive mono-halo-triazine radical which contains an alkyl or aryl radical linked via -O- or -S- are prepared by a series of reactions including the coupling of a diazotized amine R 1 NH 2 with an aminonaphthol sulphonic acid and various condensation reactions to link the bis-halotriazinylamino side chain to the amino group of the naphthol sulphonic acid. The dyes are used to colour a wide variety of materials, in particular cellulose materials by the usual reactive dyeing processes in red shades. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,019,771.
