The attenuator is composed of an optical radiating attenuation sheet set and a mechanical lens cylinder, wherein the optical radiating attenuation sheet set is composed of a single optical radiating attenuation sheet or more than one optical radiating attenuation sheet. One end of the mechanical lens cylinder is provided with an interface used for being additionally arranged on an optical receiver component of the visibility meter, and the optical radiating attenuation sheet or the optical radiating attenuation sheet set is assembled into the mechanical lens cylinder. The utility model solves the problem that the meter can not be accurately calibrated caused by the weather condition, and has high practicability when the weather condition is not good.
