Instrument propulsion device

An instrument advancement device includes a pathway connector configured to connect to a vascular pathway device, a main lumen in fluid communication with the pathway connector, an instrument received within the main lumen and having a retracted position and an advanced position, an advancement member configured to move the instrument between the retracted position and the advanced position, and a lumen seal received within the main lumen and connected to the instrument. The lumen seal defines a space between the lumen seal and the main lumen when the instrument is in the retracted portion.
