The protection structure comprises a valve rod provided with a hand wheel, a certain end of the valve rod at the upper part of the hand wheel is sleeved with a bushing with a closed upper end, the length of the bushing is the length of the valve rod at the upper part of the hand wheel when a valve is fully started, an oiling hole is formed in a certain side of the bushing and is an oblong hole which is axially formed in the valve rod, and an inner thread is formed on the bushing. According to the protection structure of the improved gate valve provided by the utility model, the certain end of the valve rod at the upper part of the hand wheel is sleeved with the bushing with the closed upper end, rainwater and dust can be effectively prevented to prevent lubricating oil (grease) in the valve rod from being lost.
