The counter reading device comprises a digit wheel, a plurality of groups of photoelectric sensors, and a singlechip connected with the photoelectric sensors. The digit wheel comprises a plurality of counter wheels on different digits. Each group of the photoelectric sensors is corresponding to each counter wheel. Each photoelectric sensor comprises luminotrons and an optical receiving tube, wherein each group of photoelectric sensors comprise two photoelectric sensors, and the luminotrons of the two photoelectric sensors in a same group are connected in series. The remote metering device and the counter reading device are advantaged by low cost, accurate sensing data, reliable performance, low operating failure rate, etc.
