Zusammenfassung:	Disclosed is an electric vortex retarder for an engine, relating to a motor vehicle, relating to the motor vehicle breaking device, particularly used to assist the engine to brake the motor vehicle. The utility model comprises a rotor, a stator, an excitation coil, an iron core and a control unit. The flywheel of the engine services as the rotor and the flywheel crust services as the stator; the iron core is fixed against the rotor on the stator; the excitation coil is arranged on the iron core and the control device is connected to the excitation coil and the power source of the vehicle to control the current of the excitation coil. The utility model produces no noise and machine wear in work performance and the braking power is greater than that of the electric vortex retarder installed in the transmission system. With better heat dissipation environment, the utility model can brake for a longer time and is more material-saving.
