Image capture apparatus and method, recording medium for memorizing program executing the method

An image capturing apparatus and method for capturing images having a color distortion with a minimum wide color domain and capturing images having color characteristics suitabel for various standards, and a recording media for storing a program for performing the method, are provided. The image capturing apparatus includes: a first conversion unit which converts an inputted image signal to a RGB signal having a wide color domain; a gamma correction unit which performs gamma correction on the RGB signal by using a gamma curve information determined based on an ouput format of the image capturing apparatus; and a second conversion unit which converts a color region of the gamma corrected RGB signal to a brightness and chroma signal of a color region determined by an output format of the image capturing apparatus by using a color region conversion matrix.
