Zusammenfassung:	The present invention provides a display apparatus and method supplying power to a light source where driving power is supplied to the light source, a main power path is provided through which the driving power is supplied from the power supply to the light source, a standby power path is branched from the main power path and returned to the power supply, a switching unit selects the driving power to be supplied from the power supply to either of the main power path or the standby power path, a standby power adjuster adjusts standby power applied to the standby power path and a controller controls the standby power adjuster to make the standby power be within an allowable range when the power is not applied to the main power path. Accordingly, a display apparatus and method which prevent a standby power from being continuously boosted up when a light source is turned off, thereby improving a display performance thereof are provided.
