Airbag apparatus and airbag folding method

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airbag device not requiring the post-treatment works to close, block or shrink an insert hole for inserting a gas generator, and capable of suppressing the leakage of gas after the airbag is inflated and spread. SOLUTION: The airbag 22 is formed in a sack shape by sewing the peripheral edge part upon folding one panel sheet 41 into two. The panel sheet 41 has a middle fold region 46 at the peripheral edge part. The middle fold region 46 is furnished with an insert hole 50 for inserting a retainer 24 into the airbag 22. The middle fold region 46 is folded into the airbag 22 when the panel sheet 41 is folded into two, followed by sewing together with the peripheral edge part of the panel sheet 41, and thereby a recess 51 is formed recessed toward the inside of the airbag 22.
