Zusammenfassung:Cooking utensil comprises a receptacle (1) with a base (4) comprising an intermediate layer (5) bonded to the bottom (2) of the receptable and a surface layer (6) bonded to and covering the intermediate layer. The surface layer has at least one opening for receiving an ornamental insert (7), which is bonded to the intermediate layer by hot compression so that it forms a continuous piece with the surface layer. An independent claim is also included for production of a cooking utensil as above by making or providing the receptacle, placing the intermediate layer against the bottom of the receptacle, bonding the intermediate layer to the bottom of the receptacle, covering the intermediate layer with the surface layer, placing the insert(s) into the opening(s) in the surface layer, bonding the insert(s) to the intermediate layer by hot compression, and bonding the surface layer to the intermediate layer.
