Zusammenfassung:Production of polymeric sulfur (I) involves: (a) distilling a mixture of liquid sulfur and a solvent (II) (having b.pt. less than 444[deg]C under normal pressure) for cycloocta-sulfur, at a sump temperature of less than the b.pt. of sulfur, above the b.pt. of (II) and at least 120[deg]C; and (b) quenching the sulfur melt obtained as sump product in step (a) to below the m.pt. of sulfur, using non-basic solvent(s) (III).
