Zusammenfassung:Process for the preparation of fiber reinforced composites in which the matrix polymer is derived from the catalyzed reaction of a liquid polyisocyanate containing material. The principle curing mechanism is the formation of urethane and/or isocyanurate linkages. At least a portion of the catalyst is applied onto the surface of the reinforcing fibers and/or onto the surface to the uncured resin impregnated reinforcing structure, under conditions such that the catalyst is not dispersed into the bulk of the isocyanate containing resin until cure. Curing is facilitated by a combination of mechanical and thermal action. The process is particularly well suited for the preparation of composites by pultrusion, using a one-component open-bath pultrusion machine. The process of the invention may be adapted to a much wider range of composite fabrication methods, including SMC and filament winding.
