Method for controlling a synchronised automatic gearbox

The invention relates to a method for controlling a synchronised automatic gearbox, connected to a drive motor by means of a torque converter or one or several clutches, whereby a given speed is selected by the electronic controller in the gearbox. According to the invention a baulked selection on switching the gearbox from a neutral gear position to a selected drive speed may be avoided whereby: (a) in the neutral gearbox position the controller in the gearbox performs a controlled braking of the rotation speed on the gearbox input shaft to the synchronisation speed with a gearbox output shaft by means of a gear selector; (b) a gearchange in the neutral gear position is prevented by the controller (c) on a gearchange from the neutral gear position into a given drive speed by means of the gear selector a controlled gear selection in the gearbox is performed by the controller in the gearbox.
