Zusammenfassung:	The apparatus (1) has a motor (13) that moves a lock pin (12) between a lock position in which pin is engaged with a steering shaft (11) and an unlock position in which the pin is disengaged from the shaft. A lock control unit (14) generates a counter value related to operation time of the motor and suspends its operation when the value is greater than a predetermined operation suspension threshold value. An independent claim is also included for a method of controlling an actuator that drives a lock pin which is used to lock a steering shaft in an electric steering lock apparatus.
