Zusammenfassung: | The cellular communication system includes a number of base stations through which a mobile unit communicates. The mobile unit maintains a list of active base stations with which it can communicate. One of the active stations is in communication with the mobile and uses this communication to measure the round-trip-delay between mobile and station. This delay is compared with a threshold and if this is exceeded, and the base station is a boundary station, then a hard hand-off is executed. The mobile can also monitor candidate base stations and if a triggering pilot signal is detected a hand-off can be triggered. Preferably the handoff can be between base stations controlled by different mobile switching centres. |
