System and method for time synchronization

The invention relates to a system and method for time synchronization. An electronic device may receive power from a power receiving accessory, and may include: a first communication system communicating with the power receiving accessory; an internal clock; and a first processing system. Once the electronic device is connected to the powered accessory, the first processing system may send a time update request to the powered accessory and may update the internal clock based on a time update received from the powered accessory. The powered accessory may include an energy storage device that delivers power to the electronic device; a second communication system in communication with the electronic device; a real-time clock; and a second processing system.
