Zusammenfassung:The present invention provides a method for producing tert-butanol, the method comprising (i) a step for supplying a raw material liquid containing isobutene and water to a reactor having a cation exchange resin, and (ii) a step for producing a reaction product containing tert-butanol by a hydration reaction of isobutene in the reactor, the average linear velocity of the raw material liquid on an empty tower basis as calculated by formula (I) is 5 m/hr or more, wherein the average linear velocity (m/hr) of the raw material liquid = the volume flow rate (m3/hr) of the raw material liquid/the cross-sectional area (m2) of the reactor (I) is 4-12 vol% of the volume (Vw) of the aqueous phase in the fluid (A) relative to the total volume of the fluid (A) in the reactor. 本发明提供一种叔丁醇的制造方法,具有:(i)向具有阳离子交换树脂的反应器中供给含有异丁烯和水的原料液的工序、以及(ii)在上述反应器中通过异丁烯的水合反应来制造包含叔丁醇的反应产物的工序,在上述工序(ii)中,由下述式(I)算出的空塔基准下的上述原料液的平均线速度为5m/hr以上,原料液的平均线速度(m/hr)=原料液的体积流量(m3/hr)/反应器的截面积(m2)(I)相对于上述反应器内的流体(流体A)的总体积的上述流体A中的水相的体积(Vw)为4~12体积%。
