Systems and methods for using supplemental uplink

Systems and methods for supplementary uplink configuration based on user equipment (UE) are disclosed herein. The UE may identify a frequency band for communication via a supplemental uplink according to characteristics of the UE for wireless communication. The UE may send a first message to a base station via a transceiver, the first message including an identification for a frequency band and a request to access the frequency band for communication via a supplemental uplink. The UE may receive, via the transceiver, a second message from the base station in response to the first message, the second message including a configuration for supplemental uplink corresponding to the frequency band.
