Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to a method for the production of 1, 2-dichloroethane from ethylene and chlorine and for the desalination of water, in which the respective processes are carried out in plant parts thermally coupled to each other, allowing heat from the reaction of ethylene with chlorine to be used as an energy source for the desalination of water. This heat can be fully utilized by means of coupled water desalination.
