Process for catalytic hydrogenation of unsaturated carboxylic acids and carboxylic acid products produced thereby

The present invention provides a method for catalytically hydrogenating an unsaturated carboxylic acid and a carboxylic acid product prepared thereby, the method comprising: reacting a raw material comprising an unsaturated carboxylic acid with hydrogen in a hydrogenation reactor in the presence of a catalyst and a co-catalyst, such that unsaturated groups contained in the unsaturated carboxylic acid are at least partially hydrogenated; wherein the catalyst comprises one or more metals selected from the group consisting of nickel, palladium, platinum, ruthenium, rhodium and alloys thereof, the catalyst is non-supported or supported on a carrier, and the carrier is selected from one or more of the group consisting of activated carbon, aluminum oxide, silicon oxide, aluminosilicate and a molecular sieve; the cocatalyst is perfluorinated sulfonic acid resin.
