For this purpose, the distance measuring device (1) comprises at least the following components: a signal generation unit (11) for generating a corresponding high-frequency signal (# imgabs0 #); an HF antenna (12) for transmitting and receiving a radar signal (# imgabs1 #); and an FMCW-specific analysis unit (13). The evaluation unit (13) is characterized by an additional averaging stage (134), which averages the intermediate frequency signal (# imgabs4 #) over time in the signal direction before generating the frequency spectrum (# imgabs2 #, # imgabs3 #).
