A magnetic disk device (1) is provided with a disk (DK), a storage unit, a first determination unit (62a), and a first parity management unit (63a). A first determination unit (62a) determines the presence or absence of an unexecuted command. A first parity management unit (63a) retrieves a first parity region from the storage unit after the first determination unit (62a) determines that there is no command that has not been executed.
