The plurality of core layers and the plurality of binder layers are arranged in an alternating manner. The barrier article is operably adjusted to withstand or withstand at least seven cycles of blast burner and grit testing. The barrier article may be flexible and may provide a thermal and explosion barrier in, for example, rechargeable electrical energy storage systems.
