Sensor interference suppression structure

Embodiments of the invention provide amperometric analyte sensors with optimized elements, such as interference suppression membranes, and methods for making and using such sensors. The amperometric analyte sensor device includes: a substrate layer; a conductive layer disposed on the base layer and including a working electrode; an interference suppression film disposed on the electroactive surface of the working electrode, where the interference suppression film comprises a silica polymer; and an analyte sensing layer.
