A method for simulating conveyor cycles on a multi-product general assembly line. A method for simulating a conveyor includes receiving conveyor content for each cycle, the conveyor content including a vehicle group specific over-cycle distribution at a footprint of each conveyor for a footprint cycle time, a cumulative probability of one or more footprints of the conveyor having the cycle time or less is determined for each footprint cycle time across all footprints of the conveyor, and an individual probability of the conveyor having the cycle time is determined for each footprint cycle time across all footprints of the conveyor. The method also includes receiving a vehicle dispatch strategy and generating an alert indicative of an excessive cycle risk of the strategy based on the individual probabilities, and/or performing a discrete event simulation of the conveyor using one of the individual probabilities for each cycle and for each conveyor.
