Zusammenfassung:	An airbag is described comprising a first layer, a second layer and an edge connection (30) connecting the two layers such that at least part of the first layer and the second layer enclose a gas space. The airbag comprises a first portion (41) consisting of a first region of the first layer and a first region of the second layer, a second portion (42) consisting of a second region of the first layer and a second region of the second layer, and a third portion (43) consisting of a third region of the first layer and a third region of the second layer. According to the invention, two internal connection regions (35, 37) are provided which each have at least one overflow opening connecting adjacent parts (41, 42; 41, 43). The two parts (42, 43), which are not connected by the inner connection region, are connected by means of an additional connection extending along a section of the outer boundary (34b, 34c) of the two parts (42, 43). Due to this geometry, the airbag deploys into a 3-dimensional self-supporting
