The method comprises the following steps: acquiring an image comprising a plurality of woodcut engraving plate elements as a sample image; performing 3D modeling according to the sample image to form a plurality of three-dimensional models; performing illumination preprocessing on the three-dimensional model, and performing image sampling to generate an enhanced sample image; labeling the enhanced sample image to generate a sample set, and training a deep neural network model according to the sample set to form an identification model; and woodcut engraving plate element detection is carried out on a to-be-detected image through the identification model. According to the woodcut engraving plate element detection method and system, through the technical scheme, the problem of sample deviation caused by flaws and uneven illumination easily existing in an existing Tibetan woodcut engraving plate can be effectively solved, the
