Load throttling for battery powered devices

An apparatus includes a radio operating according to a predetermined schedule; and a battery configured to supply power to the radio for radio operation. The radio controller is configured to control radio operation. A voltage indication circuit is configured to monitor a voltage of the battery and provide an output signal indicative of the battery voltage sufficient to power radio operation. When the output signal is valid, the radio controller allows the radio to operate according to the predetermined schedule.
