Separated traction battery pack and separation method

The invention provides a separated traction battery pack and a separation method. A traction battery pack assembly includes a housing assembly providing an interior region; at least one cell stack having a plurality of cell groups and a plurality of separators disposed along a cell stack axis; and a plurality of compressible barriers, the plurality of compressible barriers being attached to the housing assembly.
