The method comprises the following steps: acquiring an HDR image and a grayscale image corresponding to the HDR image, and determining a reference pixel value from the HDR image; adjusting the original backlight brightness of the display screen according to a reference brightness value corresponding to the reference pixel value on the grayscale image and a target brightness value on the grayscale image, and displaying the HDR image under the adjusted target backlight brightness; the reference pixel value is determined based on a coding critical pixel value in the HDR image; the difference value between the target brightness value and the maximum brightness value of the grayscale image is smaller than a preset brightness difference threshold value. That is, in the embodiment, the optimal backlight brightening multiple is determined through the HDR image and the gray level image, compared w
