Method and system for generating voice message with change effect

Methods and systems for generating voice annotations are disclosed. In one embodiment, a messaging application implemented on a first participant computing device receives a request to send a voice message to a second participant computing device in a communication session. In response to receiving the request, the messaging application selects a voice modification effect. A messaging application receives an input to begin recording a voice message. While recording the voice message, the messaging application receives a speech input, modifies the speech input in real time based on the voice modification effect, and continuously updates the audio file with the modified speech input.
