Systems and methods for controlling a rotor voltage of a liquid cooled electric machine are provided. A system may include a rotor, a shaft, and a ring. The ring may be disposed on the shaft. The ring may include a first lip in contact with an inner surface of the rotor and a second lip in contact with the inner surface of the rotor and the coolant. The first lip may provide an electrical path to release voltage from the rotor.
