Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to a rice OsMED23 gene as well as an encoding protein and application thereof. The invention provides an OsMED23 gene for regulating and controlling a rice plant type, the nucleotide sequence of the OsMED23 gene is as shown in SEQ ID No.2 or SEQ ID No.3, and the amino acid sequence of an encoding protein of the OsMED23 gene is as shown in SEQ ID No.1. According to the invention, a new gene OsMED23 for regulating and controlling the plant type of rice is cloned. The OsMED23 gene function deletion mutant has the characteristics of reduced plant height, increased tillering, shortened and thinned stalks, upright leaves, reduced panicle shape, reduced setting rate, reduced grain width and thickness, reduced thousand grain weight and the like, which indicates that the OsMED23 gene has application value in regulation and control of rice plant types. For example, the method has an important value in the aspects of breeding with good stress resistance and excellent yield traits and quality traits
