The method comprises the following steps of: selecting a profile, dividing the profile into an upper section and a lower section according to the gravity center of the profile, coding by using 8-direction chain codes, comparing variances of the 8-direction chain codes of the upper section and the lower section of the same profile, and determining that the flame is a real flame when the ratio of the variances meets a certain condition and the color range is also met.
