Zusammenfassung: | Described herein is a wavelength selective switch (100) comprising an input fiber array (102). The array (102) includes two or more columns of optical fibers spatially offset in one or both of a switching dimension or a dispersion dimension of the wavelength selective switch (100). Each column of optical fibers (102A, 102B) is adapted to project a respective light beam. A switching engine (112) is positioned to receive the light beam and apply angular switching to the light beam to direct the light beam to a respective output fiber. The light beams are encoded at respective angles or polarization states such that each column of light beams is incident on a different region of a switching engine (112).
