A radio frequency (RF) coil assembly (1300) for a magnetic resonance (MR) system (10) is provided. The RF coil assembly (1300) includes one or more modules (1302). A module (1302) of the one or more modules (1302) comprises one or more RF coils (1208), each RF coil (1208) comprising a coil loop (201), the coil loop comprising a wire, the wire being formed as the coil loop (201). Each RF coil (1208) further comprises a coupling electronics portion (203) coupled with the coil loop (201). The module (1302) also includes a socket (604) coupled with the coupling electronics portion (203) of the one or more RF coils (1208).
