The invention relates to an image signal processor and a method for processing an image signal. An image signal processor includes a directional intensity determiner, a semi-directional pattern determiner, and a pixel interpolator. The directivity intensity determiner divides a target kernel including a target pixel into a plurality of sub-kernels, and generates gradient and information by calculating directivity intensity of each of the plurality of sub-kernels. A half-direction pattern determiner determines whether a half-direction edge pattern is included in each sub-core in response to the gradient and the information.
