Zusammenfassung: | A carbon dioxide (CO2) capture system (20) for reducing CO2 emissions includes an absorption zone (22) and a regeneration zone (23). The absorption zone (22) captures CO2 from the exhaust gas by absorption in the liquid solvent separated from the exhaust gas by the separator. The liquid solvent comprises a mixture of two or more alkali metal salts of amino acids or sulfamic acids, thereby forming a first component and a second component. The first component is a primary or secondary amino acid or sulfamic acid having a molar mass of less than 200 g/mol. The second component has a molar mass of less than 300 g/mol. The regeneration zone (23) may regenerate the liquid solvent rich in captured CO2 by heating such that the resulting liquid solvent with a low CO2 concentration is pumped back to the absorption zone (22). An onboard CO2 capture and storage system for a mobile internal combustion engine and a method for capturing CO2 are also described.
