The invention discloses a ventilation system and method for a double-hole extra-long highway tunnel. The ventilation system comprises an axial flow exhaust fan, an air distribution device and an intelligent control device. The axial flow fan is positioned in a ground fan room at a wellhead; the air distribution device is located at the position of a mid-partition wall of an adit section where an inclined shaft is connected with a tunnel and used for adjusting the ventilation quantity of the two sides of the mid-partition wall.
