Filling symbols for data bursts

The invention relates to padding symbols for data bursts. The memory device can insert padding symbols into a stream of data symbols. For example, after transmitting the last data symbol of the data burst, the device can insert one or more padding symbols to maintain a valid data burst. The apparatus can randomize the transmission of padding symbols within the data burst. In some cases, the apparatus can randomly select padding symbols from various symbol types, thus randomizing which symbol to transmit.
