Zusammenfassung: | The present invention provides an engineered carboxylic acid reductase (CAR) enzyme, a nucleic acid encoding the CAR enzyme, and a non-naturally occurring microbial organism comprising an exogenous nucleic acid encoding the CAR, an engineered transaminase (TA) enzyme, and/or a hexamethylenediamine (HMD) transaminase (TA2) enzyme. The present invention provides a non-naturally occurring microbial organism having a 1, 6-hexanediol (HDO) pathway wherein an HDO pathway enzyme is expressed in an amount sufficient to produce 6-aminocaproic acid semialdehyde, HDO, or both. The invention also provides a non-naturally occurring microbial organism having an HMD pathway, wherein an HMD pathway enzyme is expressed in an amount sufficient to produce 6-aminocaproic acid semialdehyde, HMD, or both. The present invention further provides biologically derived HMD, 6-aminocaproic acid semialdehyde and/or HDO as well as methods for the production of biologically derived HMD, 6-aminocaproic acid semialdehyde and/or HDO.
